Hi, my name is Mary Hedgman nice to meet you; I’m the Director of the Hedgman Funeral Service.

I’m a professional licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer licensed in three states, with over 30 years of experience in the funeral industry. I’m a graduate of UDC with a degree in Mortuary Science and a lifetime member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practitioners. My Experience entails Thirty plus years of working for various funeral homes, in DC, MD & VA, as a Owner, Manager, Director, Embalmer, Restorative Artist, and Licensed Pre-Need Specialist. I chose a career in funeral service because I believe it’s my calling to make a difference in the level of professional care and support that families receives during their time of bereavement.

I’m a care giver at heart and being a care giver is what led me to my career in Funeral Service. As a Funeral Director and caring for families, there is never a time frame on how many hours I’m willing to spend in caring for your loved one, helping you and your family plan a life celebration, taking the time to be proactive in seeking out family services, or just taking the time to be a listening ear. I’m here to help and support my families by every means possible before, during, and long after the services are over.

 It is that same caring that prompted my family and I to open the Hedgman Funeral Service in 2016, to offer a variety of services and affordable price options to accommodate every family’s budget. One of the most important care practices that my family, staff, and I practice daily is integrity. Integrity is the high quality of service, extra care, and details of thoughtfulness that you give when you think no one is watching. It’s who we are and what we represent.
